Common Grounds

Meeting from 8:30 – 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings in Room 8, this is an informal and interactive setting, where one can enjoy a cup of coffee while hearing and discussing scripture in light of current culture and life issues. Hymns and Holy Communion are incorporated into this service as well. Nursery care is provided for small children.

Beginning at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary, this informal service features praise music and preaching. Participants are encouraged to bring their Bible with them as we examine God’s Word for our lives. Sunday School children are part of the service for the opening worship, and then exit to their classrooms with their teachers, and Nursery care is provided. The sacraments of baptism and communion are also celebrated in this service.

This service, which begins at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary, reflects and honors the Church’s and our Wesleyan traditions in liturgy and style. Featuring hymns on the organ and piano along with one of our choirs, this service hints at the formality and reverence of worship. Celebrating the Eucharist and Holy Baptism are centerpieces of this setting. Nursery care and activities for younger children take place in our Education Wing.

In the final class of each semester, Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christenson asks his students how they will apply what they have learned to their own lives to ensure that:
  • they are happy and successful in their careers
  • their relationships are an enduring source of happiness
  • they live lives of integrity

Those discussions led to his best-selling book, “How will you measure your life?” Join us beginning January 7 as we explore this same question. Drawing from scriptural teaching, we’ll look at how what we choose and value has far greater impact on our lives than what we achieve and acquire.
