Pamela Ann Newman, only child and beloved daughter of Alan and Shirley Newman, endeared herself to many with her tender love for her fellow man and special love of children. Her happy presence delighted all of her Grace Church family. She served Grace Church in many ways with her gifts. Pamela joyfully served as director of the Asbury Choir from 1995 to 2000. She infused in the children of Grace the knowledge of American Sign Language. She also served as a faithful Senoir Choir and Handbell Choir member. Pam’s gifts also included liturgical dance, which she taught to the youth and children of Grace. She inspired our youth to come forward with their talents and add them to our church services. Pamela volunteered her talents within the community, and formed a bond and deep concern for children with AIDS. She was part of a dance group that performed for local charities and for the elderly. Pam’s special Halloween Spook program, which took place in the Meadowlands, was a favorite charity of both young and old. Her love of people delighted all in many different stages of life. Her beautiful smile lit up the room wherever she would enter. She truly loved everyone. But those children suffering with AIDS and physical disabilities were her passion. Through this scholarship, in her name, Pam’s family and friends wish to extend Pamela’s love of life, music and an encouragement of our young people at Grace United Methodist Church.

Diane Bishop was a Methodist from birth and a 25 year member of Grace United Methodist Church. She carried out her love of children, particularly of young children, through her own family and through her volunteer activities, her coaching and her teaching. She particularly felt that young children should have the opportunity to feel success in their early schooling as a preparation for life. Through this scholarship, her family and friends hope others will be encouraged in Diane’s memory to help and encourage children.
